Fence -- Finished

Shortly after finishing
Shortly after finishing
For the last 3 months we have been busy building a new fence for our property - at over 400ī to build and only able to work in our spare time - it has taken a while and boy are we glad itīs finally finished.

Our old fence (one of those cheap panel jobs) rotted at the posts and basically blew over in last winterīs wind storms. Not left with much choice we started looking at options in the spring - quotes to have the same kind of thing rebuild by a fenc company topped $10K - we dropped that idea in a hurry ;)

After thinking About it - we realized that it was the posts that are the big problem and deceided to use industrial chain-link posts rather then wood. To keep it looking good, we would run wooden cross supports from treated 2X4s and then use rough cedar facia. With Kelleiīs friend who mills cedar and a lucky find of a company from Vancouver that put in all the posts and made the gates for a reasonable fee - weīre getting a significantly better fence for less then the $10K for the cheapo one.

As you can see from the photo - it looks pretty good - weīre thrilled anyway...

The photos also show just how much we still have left to do. Still need to get a roof on the burnt-shell of our 2nd building. We need to build the Deck and then clean-up the entire Back Yard... Ah projects ;)

But the fence was a huge project - and itīs quite a relief knowing itīs done.
