My First Podcast Interview

I have been interviewed several times About various things over the past years... Radio, TV, and in the paper - but this is the first Podcast for me... Dave from 99hobbies.com contacted me a while Back and we talked About HAM radio, WorldTime, and bundled that all up with a maritime thread...

Dave runs http://www.99hobbies.com a portal for things HAM and for encouraging people within and to find out more About the hobby. Both my father and grandfather were involved in HAM radio - so, as a techie myself, it was a foregone conclusion I would get my license.

Here is a link to Daveīs site and his notes About our talk:

and here is a direct link to the podcast:

If you have been following along here in the last while youīll have seen my little "shack" located across my office from where Iīm blogging this. You will have also read About how Kellei and my constant monitoring of the marine VHF frequencies has allowed us to assist in several distress situations by relaying traffic up Sechelt Inlet.

HAM is a lot more then the actual communications side though. For many, the best part is setting up and, in many cases, building the equipment necessary. Most HAMs are avid tinkerers and have at least one home built "something" as part of their shack (the official term for their radio station and assembled Gear)

So, for all those electronics tinkerers out there (like me) who havenīt yet discovered HAM Radio - have a perusal through http://www.99hobbies.com and see if, perhaps, youīve just found your calling...
