Add JRCC to the mix

VIPs touring JRCC
Looks like Kellei and I are finally going to get to take a tour of the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Victoria (JRCC) as part of our coming trip for various CCGA Business...

Weīre off to Victoria soon for several things all CCGA related. 1) to demonstrate the SAR module I have been developing to the staff at the CCGA office, 2) to meet with the IT manager for the JRCC and look for ways to integrate the data available from the SAR module with JRCCīs computer systems, and 3) to participate in the ARTE workshops centering on the CCGA Training aspproach for the next 5 years...

no weīre not busy at all...

To top it all off, it looks as though the local paper is going to use our wedding as a feature story - tracking our planning and the actual wedding as an on-going saga - sounds like even more fun!

All in all - it looks like a bit of a wild ride is in store this year - all we need to do is hang on for it! The upcoming trip to Victoria should be a highlight - we are both very excited About the whole thing and if the ARTE team can get the coxswain standard truly "sussed" this time it will be a job well done at the least - if we can also get a plan formed for delivering the training to get people through the standards, as is the plan, that all the better.

Iīm particularly please About the prospects of integrating the SAR module with the JRCC systems though. If we can provide up-to-the-minute data it should improve the ability for the controllers at JRCC to know what tasks auxiliary vessels are actually suited for - and that could change the face of SAR in the Pacific. In part, this is what started me down the path in the first place (a 5 min conversation with the person in charge of JRCC when he visited our unit) To see if actually coming to fruition approximately one year later is very exciting!

As a side note, Iīve asked them if I can take a virtual tour of the JRCC control centre when we are there - I donīt have an answer Back yet - but Iīll be sure to post a link here if they let me do it!
