Not a good day in gibsons

Langdale Ferry (File Photo)
Langdale Ferry (File Photo)
This morning, while we got just a light dusting of snow, Gibsons got quite a dump of it - which, from what I have heard has caused some pretty bad problems on the roads. It was still snowing at About 0830h this morning when we heard something you donīt often hear on the VHF - a Pan Pan called in from one of the BC Ferries - there was a Man Overboard just off the Langdale terminal and the person was not in sight.

After quite a search it appears the person was found - I donīt know what their condition was - but after 40 mins in the water it canīt have been too good. Our sister CCGA unit in Gibsons was involved in the operation, along with several CCG units and other vessels.

These kinds of things are always difficult to hear - especially with our training. You always stand there transfixed staring at the VHF waiting for information and imagining what it would be like to be there involved in what is transpiring.
