Pre-Congress Weekend Sunday

Day 2 of the weekend celebration of the Swedish Sea Rescue Society and the theme of today was Germany and Finland - go figure...

There were some last minute adjustments required for the IMRF web site so I spent the morning working on that whilst Kellei, camera in hand, continued on her quest to set a world record for the most SAR vessels photographed in a single day. She spent a fair bit of time on the massive German SAR vessel and got loads of great info from their on-board paramedic. She also met the crew of the vessel from Finland and got an invite for us to go out with them later for the SAR demonstrations - which we gratefully accepted.

We jumped on Board later after more helicopter lift demos and observed from the top Deck of the cruiser Jenny Wihuri from Finland. They easily completed the fastest person-in-the-water Recovery I have ever seen - dropping their tender down their Stern ramp and were Back with the person from the water in less then one minute - I felt like I needed more training watching that. This was part of a SAR demo where each crew got to spend 5 minutes demoing their skills - most showing a MOB and some firefighting.

We got Back and after some trading of shirts we retired Back to the hotel for an evening roof-top hot tub and sauna before turning in a bit early in prep for the start of the conference tomorrow.
