The Ultimate Home Movie System
A while Back I reported on our new HD70 home theatre projector. Since then we have been working to create the best possible home theater that we can. The latest efforts surround the screen and we have been experimenting to find the best projection screen solution for our system...We knew from the start that we didnīt want to use a store-bought screen, partly because of space limitations, but mainly because we didnīt want to spend the money. We already had a perfectly good wall, so started looking at options to treat the wall to make it a good surface for a screen.
After a fair bit of research we settled on a bright white satin Melamine Paint as the ideal solution and finally got around to painting it yesterday. Our first movie was much more brilliant and the colours were certainly more accurate - but the paint was still a bit wet and as such we got a hot-spot reflection from the projector. Tonightīs movie session will let us know if that was just the paint being wet - or if the flat finish melamine is still too reflective - in which case we will need to scuff it.
Stay tuned for more details...
