The Invincible Mouse

Mighty-Mouse?
Mighty-Mouse?
No, Iīm not kidding... the article is here: http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5744,16417002%255E30417,00.html and starts off "SCIENTISTS have created īmiracle miceī that can regenerate amputated limbs or damaged vital organs, making them able to recover from injuries that would kill or permanently disable normal animals."

Iīm not sure About you - but this scares the willies out of me. People keep playing with nature - and so often when they do, several years after the fact, we hear the invariable "whoops - didnīt see that little side-effect coming" as some killer disease wipes out several million animals/people/crops etc... The article goes on to mention that "And when cells from the test mouse are injected into ordinary mice, they too acquire the ability to regenerate" Oh, great - even better it can spread...

Sorry - not that Iīm totally negative About all this - sure I can see the medical potential - itīs just to me, this sounds somewhat risky - not to mention when these mice escape the lab (notice I say īwhenī and not īifī) things could get really interesting. Look to the future - it sounds almost like some kind of horror movie - like a cross between a zombie movie and sci-fi - "Night Of The Living Dead Mice" except itīs not in a theatre near you - itīs in your basement.

Ah well, Iīm venting again - throwing my concerns into the cosmos...

I realize Iīve been somewhat non-nautical this week - but I did warn you - perhaps Oklahoma just has this affect on a man.
