Dory Cradle, Fence, and More Repairs
It looks as though we will finally finish the fence around our property today - after 400ī and About a month of work. Also, in an effort to make the dories more mobile for working on them, we are building two fitted dollies that we can keep them on here - and move them around the property as needed. It seems sometimes like we have been building this fence forever - in fact itīs only been since June - but thatīs long enough I suppose. We expect to complete it today (yeah!) All things considered itīs gone pretty smoothly and it looks and works perfectly (Wyatt can now hang out in the backyard when weīre away if he likes)
In the dory front we have had them up on blocks since the Wooden Boat Festival and needed to get them down from there and into a more mobile platform so we can get them from on garage to the other - mainly to facilitate working on them in the winter. We designed a bit of a dolly system - one for each dory. Itīs build from two stringers and some cross supports with industrial castors. Each is fitted to the rocker of the dory and will Hold it in place snuggly. Iīll post some photos after we get them both build today.
Finally, in the: We seem to need to replace everything that is part of this house department... We now have a new hot waterr heater. Marking the second to last appliance in the house that we hadenīt replaced - Only the furnace is left now - and we are basically waiting for that to go next - weīre guessing that for maximum effect - it will die About January 12th - in around there somewhere - bets anyone?
I suppose we have done well in a way - after replacing - the roof, the fence, the Washer/Dryer, stove, toilets, dishwasher, having the rental burn down, and now the hot water heater ALL in the last 12 months - we figure we basically have a new house now and have managed to improve the quaility of most of the items - gotta look on the bright side!
