Bray Head

Bray Head (lookign North)
Bray Head (lookign North)
Today we kept to ourselves and took a walk from the town of Bray where we are staying around Bray Head towards Greystones where Gerry and Kathleen live - it was a beautiful walk and a very relaxing and peaceful day full of natural beauty...

We started with a coffee at Maloyīs - a local coffee shop that we had stopped at before Heading to Galway. Very friendly people and a nice start to the day. We walked down to the seaside and followed that along beach-combing for a while. Anyone who enjoys skipping stones would have been in heaven - this beach must have the largest collection of ideal skipping stones that I have ever seen! We also met a dog that followed us along for a while on the beach - he lost interest though when it became apparent that we didnīt have any food to share.

Continuing South along the beach we met up with the path again that follows along Bray Head - the Head is a rocky outcropping that separates the seaside towns of Bray and Greystones and rises About 200m (best guess) at itīs summit. The Dart (local train) runs along itīs base by the sea and the walking path follows along just above that. We hiked along this stunning bit of country for About an hour and a half - just drinking it in and watching the light surf and all manner of birds and flowers. It hinted at raining several times - but never really got us wet - it was About as ideal as one could hope for.

Our initial plan had been to walk all the way to Greystones and take the Dary Back but after a point we came to a sign that stated the path was closed due to land slippage so we turned aside (we found out later that everyone ignores this) Instead we followed a small track and ended up along a road that led us Back to the main road that connects Greystones and Bray and walked Back to Bray this way. We found a pub (based on a localīs recommendation) and after a fantastic lunch headed Back to the hotel for a bath and to Ease our feet after About three hours of walking.

The day ended with a dinner that was included with our Stay in the hotel - very good, but far too much food!
