Travel to Sweden

After a very early start (3am) we arrived in Sweden About 12 hours later to a beautiful hotel and many discoveries - this being the first time for both of us to travel to a country where we have absolutely no lingual ability...

Because of the less then ideal bus connections for the 3.5 hour ride from Poole to London Stansted airport - our fist bus left at 0425h - thus an early start. The first bus was plesent enough and we arrived at the mid-point terminal (Heathrow) for a change to another bus with time for a quick coffee. The second ride was a bit less comfortable as the bus was a bit of an oven - but this was the shorter ride and we made it to Stansted to start our 4 hour wait for our flight (the less then ideal part)

The Ryanair flight to Sweden was fine apart from the "Kangaroo Landing" at the end (that was the flight attendantīs description) and we were met at the airport by a smiling Swedish Sea Rescue Society (SSRS) volunteer at the airport and chauffeured into Gothenburg to our hotel.

The hotel is, to be stereotypical, like something from Ikea and after taking some time to aquaint ourselves with the 6.5:1 exchange rate from CND to SEK (Swedish Kroner) we enjoyed a dinner at the Hotelīs KöK (Bar) on the 6th floor overlooking all the assembles SAR vessels. A 600 Kroner meal - no itīs not cheap here - but the food was fantastic!
