Good View of the Sprit
Invariable you get more and better pictures of ´other´ boats then the one you´re on!
Don´t take my picture!
Too late...
Robertson II 1988 (SMU Trip)
My Second ever trip (again poor quality polariods)
Sails looking good
However, the motor-sailing symbol gives us away.
Galiano?
I think that is Galiano island looking very parched
Good Sailing
I really wish I had a different camera then a Polariod back then :(
Robertson II 1989 Trip 1
My first trip as volunteer crew - and the trip that set the stage for all that was to follow!
Was I really that young!
Just after boarding - before I even got my first crew shirt...
Views at Shipspoint
These were taken by my father before the trip

Getting ready
Loading bags - my first chore (this became somewhat of a tradition for me)
Getting Ready
Oh, don´t I look industrious - LOL
What do you do when there is no wind?
Photo op! - the Robertson under full sail was actually drifting backwards in this photo - myself and one other person rowed out with a dory full of cameras to take photos for everyone.

Aproach to Harmony Falls
We were always getting everywhere after the Swift - but then again Tony was skipper on the Swift  - so I suppose that was to be expected :)
Harmony Falls
I was amazed by this beautiful waterfall - this was the first of many times I was to see it.
The Swift at Harmony Falls
As an interesting note - count the yards on the Swift... (helps to date this photo)
Flat Calm
People used to argue with me that this photo was upside down it was THAT calm... (you can tell from the Robby´s bowsprit that it´s right side up)
Oops
This is what it looks like when the bosun throws a 200´ coil of rope to the people in the dory and they don´t catch it...
When in doubt - WATERFIGHT!
right after loosing the rope an imprumptu waterfight broke out in the dory that had failed to catch the rope...

Swimming at Cassel Lake
On Redonda Is. (Teakern Arm)
Castle Lake
In the summer Castle lake is bath-tub warm - always a favorite destination
Log Boom
Tied up to a log boom (this was the first time I ever stood on a log boom - which seemed like something at the time)
On Cortes
Just after coming ashore on Cortes Is.

Getting ready for a swim
Cortes Lake
I can´t remember what lake this was - but I know it was on Cortes Is.

Flowers at the lake
Visitors
I can´t for the life of me rememebr the name of this boat - but Skipper Gerry Fossum knew them.

Middlenatch
This tiny island in the middle of the Straight of Georgia gets so little rainfall that cacti actually grow there - the name means: the land that never comes - because as you approach it always looks like you should be there already

Leaving to Desolation Sound
This was taken on a way away from desolation sound - so hard to be going that direction...
Glowing Swift
The sun hit the swift just right on our way south through Sutil Channel - it was cloudy everywhere else...
Swing
Nothing like a swing rigged from the foremast to make swimming even more fun!
Secret Friends
I made a little model of the Robby for my Secret Friend who then gave it to Luke (Skipper Gerry´s Son) - sorry about the bad photo
Sea Lion in Caddy Bay
The last night of the trip - we spotted a sea lion sunning on the log boom
Luke
Too cute to miss - we had all the bedding up on deck while cleaning up on the last day - and look who I found...
The Crew Shot
One of the standards
The End
After cleanup - I didn´t want to leave...
Prologue
well, ok maybe I´ll just go back onboard one more time...

Spirit Of Chemanius Sept 1987
My first SALTS trip (SMU school trip) please excuse the poor quality of these polariods!
The Robby
As usually the Robertson II was also sailing
First Time at the Helm
I was loving every second of it!

As we were leaving from the open house, Robertson II ran aground. They sent all the trainees and crew out on the main boom to shift the weight to try and get it off. It was fun watching them jump up and down but it finally worked.
