Well, it´s official - this is an AWSOME movie!

I was fortunate enought to land a pass to the preview and just got in from watching it tonight...

I always watch nautical films with a very critical eye - and, being a stout fan of the O´Brian novals I was very anxious to see just how badly Hollywood would masicare the story - but, to my delight they didn´t! Not only is the nautica in this film is superb, the movie is very true to the story (well with a lot of cutting and pasting from several books into one film)

I watched the film with another SALTS shipmate and neither of us could find any failings in nautical history during this first screening (I certainly plan to see it again)

The entire film (barring a few sea chantys) is set to the Classical Chello and Violin chamber pieces that Jack and Stephen play in the aft cabin, complete, right down to the toasted cheese and coffee (If you´re a fan of the books - then you know to what I elude)!

Anyway - since I expect many of you are as anxious to see this film as I was - for what it´s worth it certainly receives my highest praise!

Dear Scott,
I try to learn the tall ships from internet expecially this site. I enjoy this film for its visuel aspect. But engagement scenes was terrible. Contrary to this, violin and cello beatiful. And j.s.Bach´s cello suit beatiful too.

Ihsan: you didn´t like the engagement scenes? why not - what didn´t you find good about them - I thought they were amazing - the accuracy of the sailing was superlative - have you ever seen the video "Round The Horn" shot in 1929 it looked almost exactly the same - they they added the battle sequences to create, in my opinion a very accurate depection of the brutal conditions that would have prevailed...

Dear Scott,you say I did not like engagement scenes. This is  not thrue. Because I use the word of "terrible". For example, the character of Dracula is also terrible, but succesful. And also Frankestein is terrible but many people read this book and watch in movie. "Terrible" don´t means "bad."

I loved the movie but I did notice one scene where the ship was holding a bone in her teeth as she headed away with dead flat sails!?
