What´s the proper name for a parallel hull, or hull-ette, that is typically a log next to a primitive canoe or kayak, which stabilises, a bit like stabilisers on a child´s bicycle?

I´ve only ever heard of it called an ´Outrigger´ or ´pontoon´ but I don´t believe either of those are correct.
